Edinburgh International Course in Medicine of the Older Adult 2013

This one-week course is aimed at physicians from around the world who specialise or have a major interest in the care of older people. Day sessions include:

• 'Found on the floor'

• 'End of life care'

• 'Common issues faced by geriatricians'

• 'The front door'

• 'Bones and kidneys'

Targeting doctors at consultant or senior trainee level, the course includes update lectures by expert speakers on topics of current and practical relevance, with frequent opportunities for interactive case-based learning and an additional session on communication challenges in medicine of old age.

Places are limited, thus maximising opportunities for interaction and the course also features a popular social programme including dinner in the elegant facilities of the College.

This course is primarily designed to appeal to non-UK based consultants, specialists and senior trainees in  Medicine of the Older Adult from around the world. It offers a valuable opportunity to discuss clinical issues in the care of the older adult. 

All relevant events are approved for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Where appropriate, certificates of attendance will be provided but may be posted out after the course.

Access

As a listed building, the College has restricted disabled access. A wheelchair lift is provided at the rear of the College giving access to the Conference Centre and the main historic rooms, but not all of the smaller rooms used for educational events.
