Venue:

Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh
9 Queen Street
Edinburgh

Overview

Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and discover how fashionable behaviour and the breaking of taboos over things like heavy drinking, overeating and sexual promiscuity gave rise to the prevalence of diseases like syphilis, lethargy, gout and consumption. The College's fascinating early medical texts and illustrations will show how these previously shameful diseases became the height of fashion.

This event is part of the Edinburgh International Science Festival.
