Human Rights in Medicine - Myth and Reality

Lay Advisory Committee, RCPE Conference Edinburgh

Date: Monday, 20 November 2017

Venue:

Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh

Overview

The purpose of this participative conference is to assert the importance of human rights; challenge the interpretation and practice in health and to consider how best to embed an understanding for the profession and patients.

The major difficulty is that the term Human Rights is used as though it were self-evident what it means. But it isn’t".

David Roberston, former Moderator of the Free Church of Scotland (The Scotsman, 19 June 2017)
