On Saturday 13 August, visit the new exhibition ‘FOOD: Recipe or Remedy’. Take up the one-off opportunity to view additional unique historic items which were not included in the exhibition. Join a free curator-led guided tour. Taste-test some historical medicinal sweets and take part in interactive displays from Gladstone's Land and the Cyrenians.
Programme
11am – 5pm Cyrenians Food Education cookery workshop, showing how to make some delicious food whilst engaging in good conversation around food and the issues with our current food system
11am – 5pm National Trust for Scotland property Gladstone’s Land, share information about their property, their activities and samples of an assortment of historical delicacies
11am – 5pm Inside the Apothecary Jar activity, exploring food sources around the world
11am – 5pm Cyrenians | Scottish Centre for Conflict Resolution drop in workshop ‘The Three Brains’ – the body, heart and gut connection
11am – 5pm The Unswept Kitchen, creating modern-day mosaics of your favourite foods
11am – 5pm Display of unique items not in the exhibition
11am – 5pm Food history short films
12.30pm – 1pm – Short talk by Dr Charlotte Holmes (University of Edinburgh) who will discuss early fad diets from the 1700s and 1800s
2pm – 2.30pm Curator-led exhibition tour
