In our Special Edition Evening Updates, we include non-clinical and hot topics covering a variety of subjects in healthcare to provide further education and updates from experts in the field.
This next Special Edition Evening Update webinar on Biologics has been organised and will be chaired by Dr Shahida Din, Consultant Gastroenterologist, Western General Hospital, Edinburgh.
Biologic therapies and small molecule inhibitors are types of immunotherapies which are an important option in the management of autoimmune, chronic inflammatory diseases and as cancer treatments. They are used commonly across all ages and routinely prescribed by specialist teams within a rigorous governance framework.
There are several common drug considerations including the recognised side effects of infection, skin reactions and cardiovascular morbidity which may present in primary care, acute care settings and in other clinical situations.
Prescribing in pregnancy is guided by real life safety data from national registries and observational studies suggesting low risk for many agents. Knowledge of these common drug considerations within the wider healthcare team will facilitate optimal and safe management for our patients.
This webinar will be of interest to Acute health care professionals involved in front door medicine, same day emergency medical clinics, community/primary care practitioners and medical trainees.
