This event is open to all grades of medical, health care and scientific staff and to students. If you are unsure about eligibility, or the correct fee category, please contact the Society Administrator responsible for the event (see Fees page).
Please note that on occasion event programmes may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
Certificates
All relevant events are approved for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). To receive a CPD certificate delegates must have completed the online feedback survey.
Certificates cannot be issued after the survey has closed.
Membership to the SSP:
Membership is open to all NHS and Academic Physicians in General Medicine and its sub-specialties including associate specialists, specialist doctors and trainees. Associate membership is open to all Nurses & other Allied Health Professionals.
The present membership is around 500 and consists of current and retired physicians who are, or were, based in Scotland.
Membership benefits include:
- Discounted fees to attend SSP events
- Eligibility for election to Committee
- Eligibility for Grants and Fellowships (dependent upon a successful application)
- Travelling Fellowships and sabbatical grants are available to Physicians working within a hospital setting in General Medicine or a related sub-speciality.
- Subscription to the Scottish Medical Journal

Accommodation & Travel Options:
For delegates arriving by train. There is a well signposted walking route into Melrose – approx 30 minute walk. There is no taxi rank, so taxis should be prebooked, suggested companies are Target Cabs and 5 Star Taxis.
Commercial Sponsorship
Many events are supported by commercial companies taking stand space. Health professionals and NHS managers are invited to visit the company stands during the breaks. Companies interested in sponsoring this, or other events listed on the Calendar, should contact the event Co-ordinator.
Exhibitors/sponsors play no part in the planning or delivery of the event.
