Tuberculosis: a contagious, infectious disease that has been a challenge over much of human history. In this talk, Dr Helen Bynum, who has worked as an academic, lecturing in medical history at the University of Liverpool, University College London and the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine, will explore the long history of the disease and discuss how we have managed and mismanaged this great killer. Dr Derek Sloan, who has worked in both high and low-income countries, accruing extensive experience in the management of infectious diseases, will consider why tuberculosis still remains a threat and what can be done to combat this disease.
