Horizontal Overview Our 2022 annual Medical Trainee Conference, organised by the Trainees & Members' Committee of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, aims to provide an interactive diverse programme, covering important topics relevant to the on-call medic. It will be delivered entirely online. Our programme aims to cover challenging topics as well as highlighting new developments in medicine. We will start the day with a morning covering acute presentations including endocrine emergencies, acute flares of inflammatory bowel disease and the role of mechanical thrombectomy for acute stroke. In the afternoon, we discuss specialty conundrums that present to the medical receiving unit including assessment and treatment of acute kidney injury and recognition of rashes and dermatological emergencies at the front door. This varied and engaging programme also includes our 48th Sir John Halliday Croom Lecture and our Keynote Lecture. Our Keynote lecture will examine a hotly debated question amongst doctors: 'Should all doctors be academics?' and the programme will conclude with our popular Clinical Lessons session. All grades of medical, nursing, scientific staff, allied health professionals and medical students are most welcome. The event is free to attend for Collegiate, Associate, Foundation Members and Medical Students of the RCPE This online event allows the opportunity for delegates to watch the presentations live, or at their convenience for up to 28 days following the original broadcast. Delegates can continue to register for on-demand access only after the live event has taken place. Please note that access closes 28 days after the original broadcast, not after the point of booking.
