On behalf of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, RCPE and RCSEd are delighted to present a two day event celebrating Women in Leadership.

The event draws together an international collection of experts, inspiring role models and disruptors, with a one day conference at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh followed by a one day interactive event with talks and workshops at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. A social event with drinks and canapes on 27th April will allow speakers and delegates to network with like-minded individuals!

Together we will consider wide-ranging and topical subjects including exploring barriers and solutions to women in leadership, women’s health and wellbeing, and how organisations can champion women. By bringing together speakers from the worlds of medicine, business, science, academia and policy we hope to learn lessons from out with medicine across a diverse range of topics, ensuring that all delegates take something away from the event that is relevant to them.

Day one will:

Focus on how to widen participation, challenge culture and be an effective ally
Highlight the impact of female leaders on clinical care
Include examples and role models in person delegates will have the opportunity to speak to

Day two will:

Include practical sessions - giving an opportunity for smaller group interactions to learn from women who have successfully challenged stereotypes to be successful in their own areas of specialisation
Sessions on resilience, bias and inspiring women to become leaders will give everyone plenty to discuss and apply to their own circumstances and careers.

The event will appeal to women in leadership positions, those aspiring to develop leadership skills or roles, NHS employers and educators, and allies to women in the workplace across all areas of healthcare.

This event will take place in-person at RCPE on Thursday 27 April and RCSEd on Friday 28 April. There will be an option to attend the Thursday talks online for those who are unable to attend in-person. Please be aware of this when booking.

At RCPE a private space for breastfeeding and a parent room/space with a livestream will be provided to allow you to still attend the event and network.

Cancellation policy

If you have to cancel your place within seven days of this event, we regret that we are unable to provide a refund. However, you may nominate someone else to take your place at the discretion of the event co-ordinator.

If you are no longer able to attend in-person, you can still view part of the event online. We will only reimburse the in-person fee under exceptional circumstances. The event will be available to view on-demand for 28 days after the live event, therefore, there is still opportunity to view the talks if you are not able to attend on the day.

This event is open to all grades of medical, health care and scientific staff and to students. Non-medics are very welcome to attend and should select the 'non-Consultant' fee category. If you are unsure about eligibility, or the correct fee category, please contact the RCPE member of staff responsible for the event (see Fees page).

Certificates

All relevant events are approved for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). To receive a CPD certificate delegates must have completed the online feedback survey. The survey will close 28 days after the original broadcast of the event, with certificates being issued shortly after this.

Certificates cannot be issued after the survey has closed.

On-demand Access - Thursday 27 April content

All Thursday presentations will be available to view on-demand by the second working day after the live event for 28 days, allowing you to catch-up in your own time. All delegates, including those attending in-person, will have access to view the Thursday talks on-demand again during this period.

A professional photographer may be in attendance at this event. Photographs may be used by the College in digital and printed publicity material. If you do not wish to be photographed, please let a member of staff know at the registration desk.

Access

A wheelchair lift and internal lift are in place at the College, allowing access to the conference centre and historic rooms. However, as a listed building, meeting rooms 4 & 5 have restricted access. For further information and assistance, please contact the Event Co-ordinator responsible for the event.

An induction loop system is available in the Great Hall and Conference Centre Auditorium.
