We would like to invite you to join us for the next evening meeting in our PROFESSIONALISM IN MEDICINE series: Social Media in Clinical Practice and the Virtual Consultation

Before the COVID-19 pandemic we were already living and working in a more social media driven world. In this evening meeting we will explore:

Social Media in Your Clinical Practice: Friend or Foe

Dr Clare Bostock, Consultant Geriatrician, NHS Grampian who has authored for the BMJ on practical advice for managing email to improve work life balance
Dr Jonny Guckian, Core Medical Trainee, Leeds, Director for Social Media & Communications, Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) & Founder, Medisense Medical Education

Learning Objectives:

To understand the role of social media in modern medicine
To learn how to harness social media for effective medical communication and education
To gain insights into managing the pervasive nature of social media and guard against any negative personal effects

The Virtual Consultation: Progress or Regression

Trish Greenhalgh is Professor of Primary Care Health Sciences and Fellow of Green Templeton College at the University of Oxford. She’s doing research into remote modes of clinical consulting and leading an evaluation of the Near Me service in Scotland.
Hazel Archer is National Near Me Co-Lead at the Scottish Government. Near Me is NHS Scotland’s video consulting service which has expanded rapidly since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Learning Objectives:

To understand how and when to conduct a virtual consultation
To learn techniques for effective virtual consultation
To gain insights into when the need for human touch may outweigh the benefits of virtual consultation

Going forward our personal and working lives are unlikely to ever be the same again. Join us to see how they might look.

This event would appeal to all stages of Doctor and the wider multidisciplinary team.

This evening meeting will be delivered entirely online.

All relevant events are approved for (CPD). A certificate of attendance with CPD information will be issued electronically to individual delegates via email.

Please note - certificates can only be issued to attendees who have completed and returned the CPD/Feedback survey form, which has been emailed to them, within the advertised time, usually 2 weeks. Certificates cannot be issued after the survey has closed.
