Horizontal Overview The RCPE Cardiff - Update in clinical medicine symposium taking place Friday 21 June 2024 is designed to provide high-quality education for physicians, medical trainees and allied healthcare professionals on a broad range of topics with focus on management of acute medical emergencies and clinical advancements in the field in recent years. The topics covered during this one day symposium will include: Update in management of acute decompensated heart failure covering latest recommendations for the treatment of patients with heart failure, indications and role of SGLT2, Finerenone and IV Iron infusion in this cohort. Initial work up and management of patients admitted with acute liver failure. Updated NICE guidelines for management of Type 2 Diabetes and emerging therapeutic options including dual incretins. Assessment and management of frail adults in an acute medical intake. Diagnosis and management of neurological emergencies in an acute medical take. We are delighted to welcome Dr Olwen Williams OBE, Consultant Physician in Genitourinary/HIV Medicine based at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to deliver the keynote lecture on The future of clinical medicine - reflections from the past that influence the future.
