Horizontal Overview RCPE Quality Governance Collaborative: Seminar Series Christmas Seminar Featuring English National Opera and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust on the development ENO Breathe. Virtual Evening Event*: 18:00 - 19:30 The RCPE Quality Governance Collaborative, the English National Opera (ENO) and the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Present: An evening debate and discussion focusing on the governance aspects of the ENO Breathe initiative, as featured in the Lancet. Presented virtually from the London Coliseum, St Martin’s Lane London, and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. The evening will discuss the alignment between governance of health and governance of the arts by examining ENO Breathe, a breathing re-training through singing programme co-developed by the ENO and Imperial College Healthcare Trust as a recovery method for COVID-19. The speakers will focus on the experience of establishing a joint health programme, and what shared development and governance opportunities there are from this alignment for both now and in the future. And how ? Close - 19:30 Further Information Biographies Dr Harry Brünjes - Chair English National Opera Dr Brünjes qualified in medicine at Guy’s Hospital. From his Harley Street practice he established the Premier Medical Group which was acquired by Capita in 2010. A subsidiary, RTA Ltd, was sold to BUPA in 2005. In 2016 Harry re-acquired Premier Medical. In 2017 WARP Technologies and Medicals Direct were added to the Group. Dr Brünjes has been Governor of Bedford Modern School, Valderrama Golf Club, Expert Witness Institute, President of the Sussex Medico-Chirurgical Society, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine Vice-President of the College of Medicine since 2010. Dr Brünjes was Chairman of Lancing College between 2009 – 2019 and has been Chair of English National Opera and London Coliseum since 2015. Dr Brünjes has a lifelong interest in music, theatre, opera, piano and in recent years has written ‘Dial Medicine for Murder’ which he has performed for two seasons at the Edinburgh Festival, a UK tour and most recently a tour in the USA. Harriet Owles Harriet is a final year respiratory registrar in North West London and Clinical Research Fellow at Imperial College London. She has been part of the clinical team supporting ENO Breathe since its pilot in October 2020. Harriet co-authored the Lancet Respiratory Medicine publication of the ENO Breathe randomised control trial results. Jenny Mollica Jenny is Director of Engagement and Strategy at the ENO. Since joining the ENO in June 2020 Jenny has been responsible for the strategic design and development of a range of new participatory programmes and initiatives, including the award-winning ENO Breathe. Prior to this, Jenny was Director of Creative Learning at the Barbican and Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she worked for just over a decade on a range of participatory arts programmes across visual arts, theatre, dance, film, music and literature. Highlights in her time there include the flagship schools programme, Barbican Box; launching the London training centre for the world’s first disabled-led youth orchestra, the National Open Youth Orchestra, in partnership with Open Up Music; and a National Creative Learning Award for the department’s three-year partnership with The Garden School in Hackney, a school for learners with autism.
