Overview

The Fife Rheumatic Diseases Unit is pleased to welcome you to the 2017 Scottish Society for Rheumatology conference at the Carnegie Conference Centre, Dunfermline.

We hope we have a programme with a broad appeal.

The ‘theme’ for the guest speakers is ‘Extraarticular Disease’.

The Watson Buchanan Lecture this year will be given by Prof. DGI Scott on ‘Vasculitis with relevance to RA’

We are also pleased to welcome Prof C McCabe to the AHP session to talk about Pain Mechanisms and therapeutic interventions. This will fit well with presentations from the Fife Pain Management team.

The trainees’ session will be a ‘Myositis workshop’ with interesting patients, and updates n assessment and management.

Call for Abstracts

Please email your submission to sarah.hailwood@nhs.net to arrive by 5 pm on 25 August 2017. Please see SSR website (www.scottishrheumatology.org.uk) for the abstract submission form or download the following document below. Clinical, basic science, case reports, audit and AHP presentations are welcome. Accepted abstracts will be published in the Scottish Medical Journal and abstract prizes will be awarded.

Accommodation

Attendees requiring accommodation should book this themselves ASAP.

**Holiday Inn Express Hotel has a reduced rate for SSR meeting attendees of * £77.00 for B&B but the rate is subject to availability. For a guest to book they must call or email the hotel and quote 'Rheumatology Conference' to qualify for the agreed rates. All rooms will be charged in full 28 days prior to arrival and will be non-refundable at this time. Any unbooked rooms will be released 28 days prior to arrival.”

Alternatively, there is a local Premier Inn and Travel Lodge nearby.

This event is open to all grades of medical, health care and scientific staff and to students. If you are unsure about eligibility, or the correct fee category, please contact the RCPE member of staff responsible for the event (see Fees page).

All relevant events are approved for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). A certificate of attendance with CPD information will be issued electronically to individual delegates via email. Please note - certificates can only be issued to attendees who have signed against their name on the CPD Register/Delegate List available at each event and completed feedback forms have been received.

Please note that on occasion event programmes may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.

A professional photographer may be in attendance at this event. Photographs may be used by the College in digital and printed publicity material. If you do not wish to be photographed, please let a member of staff know at the registration desk.

Access

As a listed building, the College has restricted disabled access. A wheelchair lift is provided at the rear of the College giving access to the Conference Centre and the main historic rooms, but not all of the smaller rooms used for educational events. For further information and assistance please contact the RCPE Co-ordinator responsible for the event.

An induction loop system is available in the conference centre and Great Hall.
