The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the Observatory for Sport in Scotland are pleased to co-host this free public event examining social prescribing, opening access to sport and community leisure, and the role of community leisure in public health.

A range of experts will discuss how the health and sport sectors can work effectively together, to tackle inactivity and improve health and wellbeing.

Welcoming delegates will be Maree Todd MSP, Minister for Public Health, Women's Health and Sport. Ms Todd will offer the Scottish Government's position on social prescribing, as well as what work the Scottish Government is undertaking to ensure that the health and sport sectors can work together effectively.

Also speaking will be representatives from the Royal College of General Practitioners, the Scottish Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and Faculties, and SportScotland. Please see the programme for further details.

09:30	Introductions and welcome Introductions from Co-Chairs, followed by welcome address from Maree Todd MSP, Scottish Government Minister for Public Health, Women's Health and Sport
09:50	Session 1: social prescribing Dr David Shackles (Co-Chair, Royal College of General Practitioners), Dr Miles Mack (Chair, Scottish Academy), Dr Coral Hanson (Edinburgh Napier University) and Dr Eileen McMillan (Public Health Scotland) will discuss the latest developments in social prescribing, followed by a Q&A and panel discussion

11:00	Session 2: opening access and co-location of community services Stewart Harris (Chief Executive, Sport Scotland), David Waterworth (Moorgarth Group) and Billy Garrett (Director of Sport, Events, Libraries and Communities, Glasgow Life) will discuss opening access to sport and community leisure, followed by a Q&A and panel discussion
