Our symposia programme and conferences covers general and acute medical specialties, with an emphasis on practical clinical issues. Delivered through lectures, interactive debates and workshops, our range of events support your day-to-day practice, keeping you up-to-date with the latest research and discussions. The core clinical programme is complemented by symposia focusing on policy issues and areas of change or controversy.

To attend a symposia in Edinburgh you must register online via the RCPE events pages. Please click the gold 'book now' button, which will take you through to the registration page. If you have yet to create an account you will be prompted to create one for the RCPE events pages, where you will be able to view all of your bookings. It is important that you register online for symposia so that we can send you your personal link to the online feedback survey, which you must complete in order to be issued with a CPD certificate.

Frequently asked questions:

How do I claim a CPD certificate?

In order to receive a CPD certificate from RCPE for attending a symposium you will need to complete the online feedback survey, and confirm your attendance within the survey. Delegates will be emailed a personal link to an online form ahead of the symposium.

The online feedback survey is open for 14 days following the event and all CPD certificates will be issued by RCPE via email once the online feedback survey has closed.

How can I ask a question during symposia

You can ask questions during a symposium via the interactive voting application Slido. Information regarding how to access Slido will be provided to you during the event. We endeavour to answer as many questions as possible during the event, and any unanswered questions will be passed on to the speakers and their responses will be posted on this page following the event. Some talks will involve interactive voting and you will be able to participate via Slido.

How do I prove attendance?

To be issued with a CPD certificate you need to confirm your attendance via the online feedback survey (please see the first question).

How can I access past symposia?

We record all of our symposia talks (unless a speaker requests otherwise). These recordings are made available on the RCPE Education Portal and are accessible to all RCPE Members and Fellows. You can find out more about our different Membership packages on our Membership pages.

Live Webstreaming

Symposia are held at the College in Edinburgh but many are webstreamed live to a number of international sites established by Fellows and Members of the College, please see the map below to view current active sites. To find out which of these sites will be joining each symposium and for more information on attending at one of these venues, please contact Sophie Milton at s.milton@rcpe.ac.uk.

The College offers webstreams for no cost to both the site and those who attend, as we are keen that as many people benefit from our educational events as possible. The people attending the webstream do not need to be Fellows or Members of the College, so feel free to invite colleagues. We provide certificates for those attending providing they complete the necessary paperwork. If you do not see a site near you and would be interested in establishing a webstream site at a local university or hospital, then please contact Sophie Milton for further details on how to proceed.
