Events of the last year have dramatically demonstrated the dynamic and global landscape of infectious diseases in our inter-connected world. Reflecting that perspective, this year’s symposium will centre on the theme of “Tackling old and new foes in the global fight against infectious diseases”.
Our Keynote Speaker is Dr Soumya Swaminathan, Chief Scientist of the World Health Organisation. She will address current challenges and opportunities in control of tuberculosis and Covid-19.
The symposium will feature a diverse array of expert speakers from around the world and will stimulate discussion on major health problems affecting adults and children in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, the UK and South America. Laboratory, clinical, public health, and broader societal aspects of infectious diseases will be covered.
The programme is carefully balanced between efforts to tackle well-known diseases and the need to increase capacity in response to emerging threats. It will be of interest to infectious diseases specialists and other health professionals in practice or in training, and to a general audience with an interest in the field.
