Speaker: Dr Katherine Foxhall, University of Leicester
Why do histories of disease matter? What are the benefits and pitfalls of using modern medical knowledge to identify past cases of disease? What happens if we suspend our disbelief and take past knowledge seriously, however bizarre or ineffective those ideas might appear now? Taking a two thousand year history of migraine as a case study, this talk will examine how and why the way we understand a disease's history can inform even the most modern of medical knowledge.
Medical practitioners who are Fellows or Members of the College do not need to book tickets and will be admitted free of charge.
