The Delirium Teaching Day is now fully booked.
We are pleased to announce the 2019 meeting of the European Delirium Association will be held jointly with the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and endorsed by the Scottish Delirium Association.
This is one of the world’s major meetings on delirium, covering the state of the art in delirium research and clinical practice. The programme covers a wide spectrum of topics, from advances in clinical care in the acute hospital and community settings, quality improvement, pathophysiology, educational methods, palliative care, and clinical trials.
This teaching day is relevant for all healthcare practitioners involved in the care of patients of delirium, including nurses, doctors, AHPs, pharmacists, and so on. The programme (see Programme page for more details) provides a talks on experts on key points of the new Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) evidence-based guidelines on delirium, real-world clinical implemenation, care of highly agitated patients, avoiding medicolegal pitfalls in delirium care, and an update on effective delirium education. We are also pleased to welcome Mark Hudson who will give a talk and answer questions on his experience of ICU delirum.
The Delirium Teaching Day also has several interactive, multidisciplinary workshops. Delegates can choose to attend three workshops from the following (full details on programme page):
- Understanding distressed behaviour in delirium: video-based case discussion;
- Managing risk of falls in delirium;
- Assessment and management of delirium at the end of life;
- Simulation in delirium education;
- Improving peri-operative care of delirium;
- When delirium persists, what should we do?;
- Delirium in stroke patients;
- Practical management of delirium in care homes.
The registration fees are: £40 (early bird rate until 31 July), then £50.
