SIGN@30: Adapt or Die? - Clinical Guidelines and the Infodemic

This will be a free event to attend in person only.

Guidelines in an infodemic - does it matter where recommendations come from as long as they are evidence-based?

At a time when artificial intelligence (AI) is dominating the headlines, costs continue to rise and healthcare systems aim to harness more output from limited resources, how can SIGN respond to these challenges and what role can you play to shape this?

We invite hospital doctors, GPs, pharmacists, nurses, allied healthcare professionals, early careers practitioners and all those with an interest in evidence-based medicine to join us for presentations, interactive workshops and a debate on the present state and future vision of clinical guidelines in Scotland.

Our keynote speakers will bring expert perspectives from Scotland and beyond while you will gain practical skills in guideline development and explore how digital technologies can shape the future of guidelines. You will also explore how evidence can deliver value-based and sustainable healthcare under the Realistic Medicine approach.

SIGN is 30 in 2023, based within the Evidence Directorate of NHS Healthcare Improvement Scotland. There will be a drinks reception after the conference for all to celebrate and plan for the future.

Event Delivery:

This will be an in person event which gives delegates the opportunity to network and attend the College while taking part in an interactive conference with workshops, debates and keynote speakers. All speakers will be presenting live on the day.

This will be a free event to attend in person. Please note this is not a hybrid event.

Only in person attendees are required to register.

The workshops have limited spaces and will be available on a first come basis when booking, please get in touch if your prefered workshop is not available and you will be added to a waiting list.

Workshop times will be allocated to delegates on the day of the event.

This event is open to all grades of medical, health care and scientific staff and to students. This will be a free event to attend.

Please note that on occasion event programmes may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.

Certificates

All relevant events are approved for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). To receive a CPD certificate delegates must have completed the online feedback survey. The survey will close 28 days after the original broadcast of the event, with certificates being issued shortly after this.

Access

A wheelchair lift and internal lift are in place at the College, allowing access to the conference centre and historic rooms. However, as a listed building, meeting rooms 4 & 5 have restricted access. For further information and assistance, please contact the Event Co-ordinator responsible for the event.

An induction loop system is available in the Great Hall and Conference Centre Auditorium.
